Ausiello: Sounds like a question for exec producer Katie Jacobs. "It's too soon to say," she says. "Once the strike is resolved, [series creator] David Shore needs to sit down with all the writers and figure out the game plan for the rest of this abbreviated season."

House and the team encounter a woman admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro after she collapsed at her wedding. Her test results come up negative for a variety of common diseases, which leads the team to suspect foul play. When they discover the woman had been a music producer living in the fast lane until she converted to Hasidic Judaism, House insists that people do not change so easily, and that her seemingly rash decision may have something to do with an underlying condition. The woman's husband insists that House treat his wife for her illness, rather than for her past, but she continues to fall dangerously ill. The team must run through all possible diagnoses without disturbing her newly found religious beliefs before it is too late. Question: Do you have any scoop on the post-Super Bowl episode of House? — Suzanne

Ausiello: Yes, but it's a little bit of a bummer. As I first scooped in this week's Ausiello Report vodcast, a planned two-part episode that was going to air after the big game and then continue the following Tuesday was scrapped due to the strike. Instead, a regular eppy guest-starring Oscar winner Mira Sorvino will take its place. Not to rub salt in the wound or anything, but I am obliged to add that, based on my chat last week with exec producer Katie Jacobs, I suspect the original two-parter would've advanced either the Huddy or Hameron storylines in a big way. Speaking of which, as promised, here's what Ms. Jacobs had to say about how Chase and Cameron might fold back into House's team in '08. "The question is not really when, it's how, insofar as they're now each in their own domain doing really well. But is it bugging Cameron that she's not really in on all of House's business? And how is it for Chase to be head of a department? And when those things become clearer, then I think we'll know what the hospital is going to look like." Meaning that in the end, the new doctors and the old doctors will end up working together, right? Right? "That I can't say for sure," she demurs. "Right now, we're just exploring how Cameron and Chase running different departments either helps or hinders House. And how much they like being away from him and having their own space, or how much they don't like being away from them."

Why "CutThroat Bitch" was fired...

Dr. House's little game of "Survivor Princeton Plainsboro" came to an end last night when Anne Dudek's Cutthroat Bitch became the 37th and final doc voted off his diagnostics team, leaving Kutner (Kal Penn), Taub (Peter Jacobson) and Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) as the final three standing. Although CB's dismissal didn't come as a complete surprise — news of Penn, Jacobson and Wilde's permanent status leaked out last month — it was nonetheless a crushing blow to those of us (yours truly included) who found Dudek's ruthless doc enormously intriguing, not to mention a major gas. So, why did the bitch get the boot? And what was behind the decision to keep Kutner, Taub and Thirteen? In this exclusive interview, House executive producer Katie Jacobs reveals the method to the mad scheme that recharged the show and called for the firing of 37 actors in the span of three months.

Why'd you cut the Cutthroat Bitch! I loved her!
Katie Jacobs: I can tell you that it was a phenomenally difficult decision. When we decided to go in this [Survivor-like] direction this season, [fellow exec producer] David Shore and I never anticipated that we'd fall in love with as many of the characters as we did — and [Cutthroat Bitch] was certainly one of those. But I would say that, if you want to see more of her, so do we. And I think that that might happen. She's terrific, and she adds a really great color to the group. I'm looking forward to finding a way that she could come back into the fold.

When did you know who the final three would be?
Jacobs: At the very last minute, because we really didn't know how it was all going to work out. We went around the writers room and everyone quietly ranked who they wanted to write for. Everybody loved all the actors; it was more a question of who they wanted to write for and how they clashed with and blended with House.

How did the actors find out their characters were being fired? By reading the script?
Jacobs: No. We wouldn't do that. But David and I also knew that if we sent a message to the set that we wanted to meet with them, then they would know automatically that [they were being let go]. But, unfortunately, this became the way that we did it, because we felt that it was really important [to tell them ourselves] — even before the actors' representation knew. First we would talk to Hugh [Laurie] and let him know — because we always include him in the business of the show — and then David and I would go visit them in their trailer or we would call them on the phone. It was horrible. It was really horrible.

I can only imagine.
Jacobs: But [creatively] it was fun, because we opened up and expanded our world. Until this season, we had a much smaller cast than most one-hour [dramas]. And the thing is, I am still in love with Cameron, Chase and Foreman. And how they will fold back in is of equal interest to us as Cole, who has been cut, but who had a really strong presence on the show.

On the surface, it would seem like Jennifer and Olivia's characters serve the same purpose: They're both ridiculously hot young doctors harboring a crush on House. Is it fair to say that there will be some tension between the two?
Jacobs: I didn't know that people thought Thirteen had a crush on House.

Well, it seems pretty obvious that she's drawn to him. And vice-versa.
Jacobs: He's drawn to her strength. And I think she calls him on what he sees. But there are layers of who Thirteen is that have not been revealed yet. She's very different from Cameron, and I can only speak about their backstory. You know, Cameron is a person who feels the compulsive need to heal. She's attracted to the most wounded characters, as evidenced by the fact that she married someone who was dying. Thirteen is hidden, and hasn't yet revealed very much about herself. She doesn't really want to look into the future, and House finds that enormously compelling. So, to me, they're both different. They are both beautiful, however. That much is true.

Skeptics would say that Kal and Olivia, arguably the two biggest stars from the original pool of candidates, were shoo-ins to make it to the final cut.
Jacobs: You know it's really funny. And I just had this conversation with Kal not a moment ago. I just received my copy of Harold and Kumar, and I equated it with the tunnel vision I have when David and I are casting. And despite the fact that I have three kids, I hadn't seen [Laurie in] Stuart Little. The funny thing is — and I don't know if anyone knows this — the part of Cole was not written as African-American. We saw all ethnicities. We actually imagined that he wouldn't be African-American. We tend to treat the casting process as part of the creative process, so we usually don't set limitations beforehand. We actually saw Kal for the role of Cole. And I was so taken with Kal, not really being aware of his previous work, that we started to talk about Kal as Kutner. And the other thing is, we weren't looking for stars, quote unquote. Kal and Olivia may have a higher profile, but I think they do themselves a favor by coming in and auditioning, which is what they did. We did not offer any of these roles to people who didn't come in and read. We were just looking to go through the casting process and be genuine to that process. And I think when you leave yourself open to ethnicity and age, you have a better chance for success.

Lisa Edelstein Spills Secrets...

You couldn't ask for a better foil for the crabby, compelling leading man on House (Tuesday at 9 pm/ET, Fox) than his boss. Cuddy doesn't take House's nonsense and she knows how to keep him in check — more or less. Plus, the sizzling chemistry between Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein keeps the dialogue fresh enough to warrant a slap on the cheek. Edelstein talked about Cuddy's sex life, her relationship with House and those racy outfits she loves to wear.

TVGuide.com: House has been so busy with his candidates, we haven't gotten as much of Cuddy lately. Will we see more of her soon?
Lisa Edelstein: It's still pretty much focused on the new team, and it just starts becoming more of the regular construction of the episodes after Episode 9 [airing Nov. 27]. But then... everyone went on strike, so we've only got up till Episode 12 in the can, so Cuddy won't be sleeping with House unless we get the writers back. So I'm out there picketing.

TVGuide.com: It would be quite something if the two of them got it on!
Edelstein: I'm all for Cuddy having sex sometime this season, so honk if you want to see my boobs.

TVGuide.com: It's been hinted in the past that there's some kind of sordid history between Cuddy and House. Is there?
Edelstein: I would absolutely love it. They don't really tell me anything — they don't want me to get attached to any ideas that might be floating around the writers' room. Yes, there have been ideas tossed around — but I have no idea what actually will or will not happen.

TVGuide.com: The banter between the two of them is one of the best things about the show.
Edelstein: I think so, too — it's a really complicated, adult relationship. These are people who have very full lives and lots of responsibilities that perhaps conflict with their feelings for each other.

TVGuide.com: Hugh Laurie seems like a pretty irreverent guy himself — do you two have a similar rapport when the cameras are off?
Edelstein: We are an entire cast and writing crew of smarty-pants. So the conversations that go on when the cameras aren't rolling are hilarious, and usually definitely not for publication. It is a process of great editing down to get that humor on the air without getting sued.

TVGuide.com: Cuddy is not your typical hospital administrator. For one thing, she wears some pretty tight-fitting, low-cut outfits. Which you look great in — but do you think it's inappropriate for her position?
Edelstein: Thank you. She doesn't care what people say — she doesn't care how many fans of the show don't like her outfits. Listen, it's actually not reality. She's a television character, and I'm an actress playing a hospital administrator, and I don't want to be in frumpy clothes. I want to be a hot hospital administrator.

TVGuide.com: She's fascinating: so strong and authoritative, yet so flawed....
Edelstein: That is what's fun — what's been great about playing this character now for several years is that the complexity becomes more and more real, and she becomes more and more of a real person. It's really exciting.

TVGuide.com: A couple of week ago, House and Cuddy were having one of their pissing matches and he threatened to replace her birth control pills with placebos. Does that mean Cuddy is no longer trying to have a baby?
Edelstein: I asked that question, too! But I didn't get an answer; I think they just liked the line. Somebody said that sometimes when women have a lot of miscarriages, they go on the pill to try to regulate their ovulation.

TVGuide.com: Cuddy's surrounded by all these handsome, available men. Do you think anything could happen between her and Wilson, or Foreman, or Chase?
Edelstein: And now there's more! There's more for her to choose from. Something's got to happen. But first we have to get the writers back.

TVGuide.com: The scenes between Chase and Cameron have been pretty intense this season. Has there been any awkwardness on set between Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer since their engagement ended?
Edelstein: They have not had any weirdness on set; they've always been incredibly professional. I never even noticed their love affair on set — I mean, I knew they were having one, but....

TVGuide.com: You had some memorable, smaller roles on shows like SportsNight and The West Wing. How is it having a leading role on such a huge hit show?
Edelstein: It's been an incredible experience. I've loved every second of it and I'm so sad that we're going on strike, because I really love my job. I'm working with a group of people that I couldn't have asked for better. There's no weird drama, there's no crazy egos, there's nothing to complain about. I'm living the dream.

TVGuide.com: What's your take on the issues that are on the table with the strike?
Edelstein: I'm an artist in this industry, and the problems the writers are facing right now are the exact same problems the directors and actors will have to deal with in June. It's really important we be as supportive as we can; we have to go to work, because we'll get sued if we don't show up, but when I'm not working, I'm on the picket line. No one wants this strike. Probably the studios already know how much they're willing to pay, but they want to make everyone crawl across glass naked for it.

I'm thoroughly missing the ducklings, too! Still, sadly, I don't have good news—and neither does Jesse Spencer (Chase). He showed up at the recent Lamborghini Calabasas event for the Epilepsy Foundation, and when asked if he and Cam would ever be in the same room with House doing differential diagnosis together again, he said with a sad smile: "It doesn't look that way, does it?" Jesse said he's hardly shared a scene with Hugh Laurie all season and doesn't expect that to change anytime soon. Arrrgh! Perhaps we can start a campaign to bring the Ducklings and House back together? I love the newbies, too. But enough already!

J.J. Abrams has snatched up another tube star for his forthcoming Star Trek reboot. Abrams confirms that House's Jennifer Morrison has joined the cast of his as-yet-untitled Trek pic. "She is indeed in the movie," he tells me, "and she is most excellent!"

Last week, Morrison was spotted outside one of Trek's Hollywood soundstages, sparking rumors that she had quietly come aboard the ensemble, alongside Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and Heroes' Zachary Quinto. Although Abrams isn't divulging specifics about her character, he denies Internet chatter that she's playing the Enterprise's glorified secretary (and Kirk's crush), Yeoman Rand — the role originated by Grace Lee Whitney. "She is not [playing Rand]," he says.

Abrams, meanwhile, tells me that the current writers' strike is not affecting production. "Our script is locked," he says.

Michael Michele, formerly of another hit medical drama, ER, guest stars in the episode, “Whatever It Takes,” as a CIA doctor unable or unwilling to provide much information about their operative's background and history. Elsewhere, the fellowship candidates try to outdo each other in a race to make the right diagnosis on a stock car driver who loses consciousness after a race.

In still more spoilers, on November 13, House and his team become the focus of a documentary film crew as they tackle the case of a teenager with a severe facial deformity. In the installment called “Ugly,” House's patient suffers a heart attack just ahead of his scheduled facial reconstructive surgery. In the course of studying the case to come up with their diagnosis, House is distracted by some of the candidates vying for a slot on his team.

In “You Don't Want to Know,” scheduled for November 20, House comes face to face with a magician who suffers heart failure in the middle of an underwater escape stunt. As the remaining fellowship candidates struggle to diagnose the illusionist, House works to prove that he is nothing more than a mere scam artist faking his ailments in order to hide the fact that he almost drowned while attempting his act.

Finally, “Games,” which is scheduled to air November 27, finds House assigning the fellowship contenders to an especially difficult case involving an uncooperative, passé, ex-rock star with a history of substance abuse and civil disobedience. Meanwhile, Cuddy admonishes House to make up his mind and determine the final members of his diagnostic group.

"Mirror, Mirror"...

Foreman comes back, House wants him gone. The entire hospital staff has joined House's little game, betting on who is about to be fired next. Chase starts the betting: cut throat bitch is most likely to go. Then Foreman's name is in the mix and Cameron tells him her money is on him. At the end, like 30 hospital staffers are in the back of the lecture hall when House makes his announcement. He's not firing anyone this week. Everyone groans.

Foreman follows House out and is all 'you're not that nice. What's your cut?' House admits he went in 50/50 with Chase and made a bundle.

Also the patient has mirror syndrome and if there are a few people in the room, will mirror the one he deems as having the most power. At the end of the ep House and Cuddy both go in to see which one he thinks has the most power...

For some reason, I have no idea why, house drags the patient into the OR where Wilson is there operating. House tries to pass the patient off as another doctor, but Wilson just wants to know what is going on. The patient starts to mirror Wilson.

Later on Wilson brings this up and makes fun of House for being his bitch (my word) and pretty much doing everything Wilson ever says.

According to sources, Kal Penn, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson will continue on the hit medical series "House" as regulars.

There were among a number of recurring actors on the show, playing candidates to work with Dr. House (Hugh Laurie), following the departure of his previous assistants, played by Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer and Omar Epps.

Penn, Wilde and Jacobson's characters were early standouts in this week's episode, which introduced all applicants.

Originally, the plan was for two of the characters to stick around and for the actors playing them to become regulars on the UMS-produced series. But the producers ended up picking up three actors, sources said.

The script for the episode, which would reveal Dr. House's final selection, is expected to be distributed today.

A rep for the producers and UMS declined comment.

An enigma wrapped in a riddle. She's a competent, young doctor who plays her cards extremely close to the vest. House loves a good mystery.

Aggressive competitor. Not afraid to "finesse" a situation when necessary, which doesn't endear her to the other fellows.

#26 Henry Dobson
As the oldest, he possesses life experience and an encyclopedic knowledge of medicine that allows him to keep up with House's line of thinking.

#32 Jodi Desai - Speciality: Veterinary Medicine
Turned her focus to human beings. If she can force a pill down an uncooperative Pit Bull's throat, then she can probably handle anything a human patient can throw at her.

#39 Chris Taub - Speciality: Plastic Surgery
Both shallow and insightful. Left a successful and rich cosmetic surgery practice for an unknown reason, which only causes House to be even more interested in the answer.

House has a new team member: Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle) has joined the cast of the popular Fox show as a series regular. He plays Lawrence Kutner, a young doctor who comes up with unorthodox ways to diagnose patients. Penn debuted Oct. 2 on the drama as No. 6, one of many doctors vying for a coveted spot on House's exclusive team. Kutner caught House's attention in the episode by resuscitating a patient and suggesting that they get her drunk to better diagnose her rare neurological condition. "Lawrence is a fan of trying random methods of exploration and life saving, and isn't afraid to break the rules a little bit," Penn tells EW exclusively. The actor, who last appeared on Fox last season as Ahmed Amar in 24, said he already feels at home on the hit drama. "When you start out on a show, nerves can run high, but with House, everyone was so welcoming, I felt like part of the family," says Penn. "Psyched does not even begin to describe it. Awesomeness and thankfulness probably." Penn is also set to appear in Harold & Kumar 2 next year.

The title has, as most House titles do, a double meaning. House keeps doing a Bosley/Charlie's Angels thing, calling the new fellows on the phone and being put on speaker phone. Also, the patient sees people who are dead, I guess these would qualify as guardian angels.

There is, much to my dismay, very little Wilson (and my source didn't really understand the scene he was in)

When House crosses the line trying to upset a new fellow, he gets punched

Cameron takes one of the new fellows under her wing and coaches him how to impress House (much like a 'guardian angel')

Our Patient of the Week is an Air Force pilot named Captain Cooper. She had a trippy, psychedelic experience in a simulator, crashing it. She blames it on a tech malfunction, but something’s very wrong with the way she’s seeing the world. She visits House and plops $50,000 in cash on his desk. She wants his help, but it all has to be hush-hush, because if NASA finds out she has medical issues, she will be booted from the space program. So House has to figure out what her problem is without charting anything or letting Cuddy know what he’s doing. Her problem is that she “hears with her eyes.”

House introduces Cooper to his hopefuls as Osama bin Laden and they start on her case, taking a medical history, doing tests, B&E, etc. Most of these are designed to introduce us to the hopefuls. The class starts with 40. Most of them are gone by the end of the episode. The most interesting of the remaining ones are Kai Penn, Carmen Argenziano, the black Mormon (don’t know the actor’s name) and another character I can describe only as the Anti-Cameron. House’s interactions with the hopefuls are, IMO, very entertaining, but I can’t do it justice here, so I won’t prattle on. He fires Kai Penn, who simply refuses to leave; he has an interesting religious debate with the Mormon, who turns out to be both thoughtful and secure in his beliefs; he figures out the Anti-Cameron’s game pretty quickly; and he seems impressed with Carmen Argenziano’s character, who is older than House. Turns out Argenziano isn’t even a doctor: He’s been auditing classes at a medical school for 30 years, and he knows a lot. This is his dream, and House doesn’t quite know what to do with him, so he lets him stay on as his assistant.

Throughout the episode, House thinks he sees Chase, then Cameron, then Foreman. He tells Wilson about Chase and Cameron, and Wilson tells him they are both working at the Mayo clinic in Arizona, so he must be hallucinating. It turns out he really did see Cameron and Chase, who are both working at the hospital. Cameron is senior attending in the ER and Chase is in surgical. Chase gives House a last-minute assist, and the hopefuls ask whether House is going to hire Chase instead of them. House looks at him a little questioningly, Chase shakes his head, and House assures the hopefuls that he loves them. He later finds Cameron in the ER and expresses his displeasure with her career choice. But he likes her new blonde hair, which he says makes her look like a hooker. Cameron is the one who told Osama to talk to House. Foreman has been working at NY Mercy, so it appears he really did hallucinate that. House doesn’t seem mad at Wilson on any real level.

Ultimately, Osama is diagnosed with a genetic disease. House really should tell NASA, but this is her dream, so he decides not to. He doesn’t even seem to know why he didn’t. Cameron thinks it’s because he’s not a dream-killer.

Actress Michael Michelle is set to don scrubs for the second time in her television career. According to TV Guide, the 41-year-old actress is set to appear in FOX's hit series, House, wherein she will star alongside Emmy-nominated British actor Hugh Laurie.

Michelle, who is best known for her stint on NBC's long-running medical drama, ER, will play a CIA medicine woman who meets Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) when he is summoned to the agency to treat a patient. She manages to impress him, and ultimately, he invites her to come work him at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.

This is the second doctor Michael Michelle will play in the small screen. From 1999 to 2002, she portrayed Dr. Cleo Finch on NBC's ER, after which she worked on a variety of productions, including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Judy's Got a Gun, The Hunt for the BTK Killer, Company Town, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Kevin Hill.

Her other notable acting credits include Homicide: Life on the Street, New York Undercover and Central Park West.

Michael Michelle is only one of the several new cast members of FOX's House. The upcoming season will introduce Princeton Plainsboro's five latest staff additions, to be played by actors Kal Penn (National Lampoon's Van Wilder), Olivia Wilde (The O.C., The Black Donnellys), Peter Jacobson (Will & Grace), Anne Dudek (Numb3rs, Bones, How I Met Your Mother) and Edi Gathegi (Veronica Mars, Lincoln Heights).

Additionally, TV Guide has reported that an upcoming storyline will involve a NASCAR Driver, while another will have House taking care of a patient with a craniofacial deformity similar to that of Eric Stolz's character in Mask.

House is an Emmy and Peabody-Award winning series that debuted on FOX in 2004. Apart from Hugh Laurie, the series stars Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison and Robert Sean Leonard.

The fourth season of House will premiere on September 25 at 9/8c.

Nettwerk Records, a record company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, will be releasing the first original soundtrack of FOX's hit medical series, House. The album features songs by such artists as Ben Harper, Gomez, Lucinda Williams, Sarah McLachlan, Elvis Costello, among others.

Band From TV, a music group comprising of series star Hugh Laurie, Heroes' Greg Grunberg, Desperate Housewives' James Denton, Cashmere Mafia's Bonnie Summerville and The Bachelor's Bob Guinney, are also featured in the album, covering “You Can't Always Get What You Want” by the Rolling Stones.

Additionally, the soundtrack contains never-before-released songs, including Elvis Costello's version of Christina's Aguilera's “Beautiful” and Sarah McLachlan's cover of XTC's “Dear God,” which was previously only available in Canada.

What happens when you have 40 medical-fellowship candidates competing for three coveted staff jobs at one famous hospital? If you're Dr. House (Hugh Laurie), you let them battle it out reality-show style until every last ounce of their dignity is gone.

Season 4 of the Emmy-winning Fox series kicks off Sept. 25 with House putting a gaggle of fellows to the test just to watch them squirm (he even makes them wear numbers). "It's classic House sadistic behavior," says executive producer David Shore. "No other character on TV — aside from maybe that guy on Survivor — could get away with hiring practices like these."

Over eight episodes, House will winnow down the group of fellows with his usual grace and sensitivity — which is to say, expect him to be a heartless boor. "At one point House just fires the entire back of the room," says Peter Jacobson (The Starter Wife), who plays a Park Avenue plastic surgeon hoping to bring fresh meaning to his life. "Boom, gone! Except one woman he thinks is hot."

The side effect, of course, is that House gets a new cast of characters. Olivia Wilde (The Black Donnellys), who plays a fellow House can't quite figure out, says, "With new people being eliminated each week, we half-expect Ryan Seacrest to pop out and say, 'If you like No. 13, text 13 to.... '"

Other candidates are played by Kal Penn (24), "who thinks the whole game-show thing is cool," Shore says; and Edi Gathegi (Lincoln Heights), who plays a black Mormon.

What's funny is there really is a competition to become a permanent member of House's team. "We're adding another couple actors to the regular cast and we haven't figured out who they'll be yet, so we figured we'll do it this way," Shore says. "We think House would definitely approve."

The television gods who control casting have made Jennifer Morrison a very famous young woman. But those who control wardrobe haven't been quite so kind. As Dr. Allison Cameron on House, she gets weekly screen time modeling a lab coat. Now, as she steps into the role of a journalist in Lifetime's TV-movie The Murder of Princess Diana (premiering Saturday, Aug. 25, at 8 PM/ET), she's got the costume blues again. Welcome to Paris 1997, a time of turbulence, tragedy... and high-waisted jeans.

"The high-waisted jeans are really not my thing!" Morrison groans. "It makes me look like I have a belly that I don't!" Of course, they don't make her look like she has a belly at all, because she doesn't. But with blonder hair, a sleeveless blouse and a tote bag, '90s-style Morrison certainly looks a little different waiting inside the marble hallways of the Hôtel de Ville in Dudelange, Luxembourg.

The site has been transformed into the Ritz hotel in Paris, the hub of the action for that tragic night 10 years ago. Morrison waits while director John Strickland sets up a crowd scene out front. A limo pulls up, followed by a swarm of paparazzi on mopeds. Les gendarmes intervene before Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed themselves step out. It's kind of unnerving to see their two look-alikes.

In the scene, hotel security is overwhelmed and Diana (played by French actress Nathalie Brocker, who watched clips of the princess on YouTube to perfect those shy-Di mannerisms) looks petrified. Later the crew will move to Luxembourg city to film the scene in the Alma tunnel. We all know what happened there.

The Murder of Princess Diana is based on Noel Botham's book of the same name, and if you're looking for its angle, check the title. Neither the British secret service nor the paparazzi nor the French police get the full brunt of the blame — "It's not to conclude, it's to explore," says producer Julia Stannard of the film — but we're left in little doubt that Princess Diana's supposedly accidental death was nothing of the sort.

Wading through the intrigue is Morrison's hardheaded, fictional American journalist, Rachel Visco, who finds herself in Paris on August 31, 1997, and suspects foul play. "The deeper she gets into it, the more trouble she's in, so then it becomes this thriller — trying to find the truth is potentially risking her life," Morrison says.

In spite of the controversial subject (and retro makeover), for Morrison it's a welcome chance to step out of the cranky doc's shadow. "The show's called House," she says. "It's a huge show, and it's really great to work with [Hugh Laurie] every day. But to have the challenge of being the one who is the driving force of the story is attractive."

And this is not just any story. Morrison had just graduated high school when she heard about Diana's death, but she understands the fascination: "I think people hung a lot of their identity on the hope they put in her. And to have that taken from you so violently…" But she doesn't necessarily buy the murder theory. "I remember thinking, 'Oh, well, the driver was a bit drunk.' I didn't immediately go to conspiracy."

Morrison, who's been chased by photographers, sympathizes with Diana's life in the spotlight. As extras playing paparazzi jostle behind her, there's an obvious comparison with the interest shown in Morrison's engagement to her House costar Jesse Spencer. But Morrison says she and Spencer stay under the radar — "We're homebodies; DVD and a pizza and beer and we're good." Ask her when the wedding is and she's vague: "In the next year." [The two have since broken off their engagement.]

When she's going to find time for canapé tastings remains a mystery, however, because two weeks after returning from Luxembourg, she's back in L.A. filming House — even though at the end of last season, Cameron, along with most of her coworkers, looked set to leave Princeton-Plainsboro.

Morrison definitely will return, albeit in what she hints might be a different role. "We can only argue with House for so long!" she says. To stir things up, the producers have announced several new cast members. "It's going to open things up for us to come back in a different capacity," Morrison adds. "And then, as far as I know, Jesse and I are going to be in different departments, so we're consulting based on our expertise."

Turns out that Spencer's been here in Luxembourg with her this week. Normally they work together, so visiting each other on set is a new experience for them. "It's been really fun because you have stories to share together," she says. And what might those stories be? "Oh, stuff like, ‘I'm wearing these ridiculous jeans....' "

Season Three DVD Review...

There's nothing spectacular about the House, M.D. - Season Three DVD box set that will be released on Tuesday. Sure, it features the entire season on five discs, and it does have some all right extras (which we'll talk about in a moment). However, all in all, it's not much different than any other TV on DVD box set you would find on the market. Well, except for this . . .

By buying this DVD set you will have in your hands the complete last season of House before everything changes. If you are a fan of the show, or a reader of TV Squad, you know that the three Fellows that Dr. Gregory House has verbally abused over the last three seasons are moving ahead in their lives. As the fourth season begins they will be replaced with a whole new bunch of people for House to mold. What does this mean to you? Well, in one year you'll either be saying 'Gosh, season three was so much better' or 'The fourth season was the greatest one that has ever been aired on television!'. Only time and a season premiere will tell.

As I mentioned, the season three box set isn't much different than others on the market. All of the episodes are there and span the season from House's miraculous recovery from a gunshot wound, to his criminal investigation, to all of his Fellows telling him to piss off. All episodes are in widescreen format and feature Dolby sound and subtitles.

There are a few extras in this DVD set, most of them on disc five, but nothing that really jumps out at you. There's the standard blooper reel, which was amusing, and a soundtrack session with the Band from TV, in which Hugh Laurie plays piano in a rock n' roll band comprised of television personalities. Then there is a tour of the production offices, courtesy of Executive Producer and Director Katie Jacobs, and a tour of the prop house, which was conducted by the Prop Master. In that extra we got to see numerous types of blood and synthetic body parts.

Another extra on disc five is Anatomy of an Episode, which featured background on how the episode 'The Jerk' was constructed. It was especially interesting because there was plenty of foreshadowing from the actors on what season four would look like. Most of them said that they would still have roles on the show but they would be different then what they were now. Well, since the show is introducing five new characters for Dr. House to berate I'm guessing that their statements will be coming true.

Only two more discs in the set include extras. On disc one there is an alternate take from the episode 'Cane & Able' that features Cameron and Cuddy in a scene entitled Angry Valley Girl Version. In this scene the two women speak like Valley Girls, complete with many 'likes', 'totallys' and, it seems, the four-letter word for sexual intercourse as every other word. That word is bleeped out in the scene, so it probably isn't as funny as it would be unedited.

Disc three has the one and only commentary in the set. It's by David Shore and Katie Jacobs for the episode 'Half-Wit', which guest-starred singer Dave Matthews. Since Katie was the director on this episode we did get a bit of insight on how scenes were set up and what was taken out. Through the commentary we also learned that Dave and Hugh played their own piano pieces during the episode, and that Matthews is the winner of Best Seizure for the entire season.

So, should you buy the House, M.D. - Season Three DVD set? Hey, if you are a huge fan of the series are you really going to listen to me if I say no? Of course not! You're going to pick this right up, miss dinner, and relive all of the season again. However, if you are only a casual fan of the series, and a fan of DVD extras, then this may not be set for you. In fact, you might just want to wait until your local public library picks it up so you can view it for free.

More Hints on Season 4...

The countdown to the return of House continues and with just about six weeks left, fans are getting even more eager to find out what's in store for the doctors of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.

As we reported previously, producers have cooked up some changes that will possibly give the hit medical drama a new twist. Other cast members have also shed light on the show's new direction at the Fox Television Critics Press Tour.

Meanwhile, here are more hints straight from the regulars. Read on to find out more.

Season three left a lot of hanging questions, especially pertaining to the departure of three major characters, including Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), who was dismissed by Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), who resigned and Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), who also resigned in a previous episode.

Of course, as reported previously, all three are bound to return in the upcoming season.

“House spends the first episode without anyone there—he doesn't have a team, and it takes quite a few episodes for us to come back. And I'm actually hired back by Cuddy, so now I'm not under House anymore. That adds new weight to the characters. I'm in a different position, and House has to come to me if he's got something he needs,” Spencer explained.

“Well, when we start out the season, he's heading his own team, and stuff happens there,” Epps, whose character struck out on his own, said.

"When you come back for the first episode, you don't know where Cameron is, and in the second episode back, you sort of discover where she's at, but I can't give it away," Morrison, who won't be appearing in the season premiere, hinted.

Furthermore, Robert Sean Leonard, who plays Dr. James Wilson on the series, has dished in on the rest of the cast.

"I'm still at Princeton-Plainsboro, as is Lisa [Edelstein]'s character, and the ducklings have gone to wing. House needs a new team, and he goes about it in a very interesting way. And I've only read the first three [scripts], but it is great—it's very fun to watch him whittle these doctors down," Leonard added.

As for the main man, Laurie has also given some insights about his character's bitterness.

When asked if he misses his people, the House star said, “The truth is, yes, but House being House, the last thing on earth he wants to do is admit it, but yes, I think it's pretty clear that there is a gap...Whether he wanted to or not, he's grown attached to these people."
